SUPPORT
GROUP SCHEDULE
A
NAMI Support Meeting is an ongoing support structure for families and
those with a neurobiological brain disorder based on the 10 Principles
of Support. These meetings provide participants with an opportunity to
reinforce coping skills, to seek emotional support and receive practical
help from others who have "been there". Experienced members
facilitate the meetings and guide the efforts of individuals to help themselves
by exploring problem-solving techniques. The goal of a NAMI support meeting
is to provide a place to confront fears, to be validated, to laugh, and
to learn and practice skills related to dealing with real-life issues.
People learn that they are not alone. Hearing the stories of others and
sharing information and resources also gives people a chance to be helpful
to others. In the support meeting, people make a difference by showing
up, by sharing and by listening. Regular attendance is not required. Come
to a NAMI support meeting one time or every time. Our doors are always
open and you do not need to be a NAMI of Lake County member to join a
support group.
